Turn Your Own Notes Into Recall Practice

Notes often make sense while you read them but are hard to recall later. A notes-to-flashcards workflow turns statements into prompts, so you have to retrieve the answer instead of recognizing a highlighted sentence. Paste a section into Raw Text when you want the quickest route, or choose a TXT, Markdown, or DOCX file in the File / PDF tab. The same file selector also accepts other supported formats, but these three are especially common for study notes. You can combine up to five selected files into one deck when they belong to the same topic.

The result is an editable draft. Check that each question asks one clear thing and that its answer can be understood without seeing the rest of the page. A good card about a process should name the process in its prompt; a good definition card should include enough context to distinguish similar terms. You can shorten an answer, add a contrasting example, or remove a duplicate in the Card Set view before reviewing it.

Preserve Useful Structure Without Copying Everything

For a Word document, the parser keeps headings and table rows as text context. Markdown retains the order of your written sections, while plain text and pasted notes keep their paragraph sequence. These cues help the model understand that a definition belongs under a particular topic. They do not guarantee the original page layout or every formatting detail. If your notes rely on color, arrows, or a hand-drawn sketch, review the source yourself after generation; text alone may omit the relationship you intended.

Instead of pasting an entire course at once, group notes by lecture, chapter, or exam topic. The app has a batch text budget for generation; material beyond it must be narrowed or split before a model call. For long notes within the budget, sections are processed before the final card set so later topics can contribute. You can choose an automatic target or one of the fixed targets from 10 to 50 cards. Short notes may yield fewer cards than the target.

Review and Reuse the Deck

After editing, study with Flashcards Only, a question-by-question Quiz, Auto Mix, or Match. Spaced repetition review can schedule a card again soon or later according to your rating. The deck stays in this browser, including the review state, until you delete local data. If you need to move cards elsewhere, export JSON, CSV, text notes, or an Anki-importable tab-separated file. The Anki format here is a basic front-and-back export, so check the import mapping if your notes include blanks or special markup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Open Raw Text, paste your notes, choose a card count, and generate an editable deck.

The DOCX parser retains heading and table-row context as text labels, although it does not reproduce the original page layout.

It is usually clearer to group notes by topic. Very long batches can exceed the generation text budget and need a smaller selection.
